Photographic Collection

 
The photographic collections of the Fernie and District Historical are comprised of a core collection of about 1400 images from the early part of the 20th century as well as the Kurshenska Collection which is over 20,000 images from the period spanning the 1960's through the late 1980's.

 The Fernie & District Historical Society holds over 1000 photographs by Joseph Frederick Spalding.  The majority of these images are of Fernie and Southeast British Columbia in the early part of the 20th century, however within the collection we have over 300 hand-tinted postcards taken of views throughout Western Canada in the mid-20th century.
