The East Kootenay Community Credit Union recently awarded $12,500 to Fernie Hospice, a very deserving organization doing wonderful things in our community. It's great to have another avenue of support for non profits with the EKCCU's Community Award Program
The Fernie Museum Project was awarded $1,000 by the EKCCU which will go toward phase two of our project, the development of a "Core Exhibt".

We've accomplished so much this past year with the renovation of the BC Hydro Building to create a new home for the Fernie Museum & Visitor Information Centre. We have created a grand public space including a main floor exhibit hall and a 2nd floor gallery. We have really only just begun! The most important part is yet to come with the development of a core exhibit that really does Fernie's history justice.

We'd like to incorporate interactive computer technology that will enable us to maximize the use of our new exhibit hall and give us the capability to create some really exciting computer imagery. We are eager to present some of our ongoing oral history projects, our image archives, and some of the many presentations that are already put together and are waiting for funding to come together before we can begin phase two.
We are excited about the potential and the possibilities in our new space. You can help take this legacy project to phase two = development of the core exhibit. You can be involved in a number of ways such as: volunteer, sit on a committee, become a member or make a donation at the museum or online.

See images of the renovation and the many volunteers and contributors who made it happen in the "Fernie Museum Project" above.
